Quick answer

Yes. As of October 2026 Roblox has no rule against AI-generated models, meshes or textures, and no disclosure rule for pre-made AI assets. You are responsible for what you upload, whatever tool made it: it is moderated like any asset, must not copy brands, characters or other games, and needs a license that allows commercial use before you sell it.

Key takeaways

  • Roblox has no rule against AI-generated models, meshes or textures, as of October 2026: they are uploaded and moderated like any other asset.
  • You are responsible for what you upload, whatever tool made it, so the same rules on copyright, brands and Community Standards apply.
  • Roblox's AI disclosure rules cover AI features inside an experience (like an AI chat), not pre-made assets you generated in a tool.
  • Who owns an AI model depends on the tool's terms and your country's law; purely AI-made output may not be protected by copyright.
  • To sell a game or model that uses AI assets, you need a tool license that allows commercial use, and paid eggs must show their odds.

AI 3D tools now make a big share of the pets, props and eggs in new Roblox games, and Roblox ships its own generator inside Studio. Developers still ask the same questions on the DevForum: is it allowed, do I have to say so, who owns it, and can I sell it? Here is what Roblox's own pages say.

Is AI-generated content allowed on Roblox?

Yes. No Roblox rule bans AI-generated models, meshes or textures, and Roblox builds AI generation into Studio itself. An AI-made pet is uploaded, moderated and judged like a hand-made one.

Roblox's post on protecting intellectual property when using generative AI (March 2024) puts the responsibility on you: you answer for the content you upload, regardless of the tools you used to make it. Its generative AI docs, written for AI features inside experiences, say the same about third-party AI tools and add that AI inputs and outputs go through moderation (text filtering, image and asset review). So the question is never “was it made with AI?” but “would this asset be fine if a person had made it?”

Do you have to disclose AI-generated assets on Roblox?

Not for pre-made assets, as of October 2026. Roblox's disclosure rules cover AI features players interact with inside an experience, such as an AI chat character or in-game generation, not models you generated beforehand.

The generative AI page asks experiences with AI interactions to show players a notice that they are talking to AI, and to declare AI interactions (text, voice, images, 3D generations) in the Content Maturity questionnaire. A pet you made in an AI tool, cleaned up and uploaded is a normal asset: we found no rule that asks you to label it. Some developers list their tools in the game description anyway, which is a nice touch but not required.

Who owns an AI-generated 3D model?

It depends on the tool's terms and on copyright law where you live. Most tools let you own or use the output, but purely AI-generated content may not be protected by copyright, so someone else could end up with a similar model.

Roblox's IP post makes the same point: something generated solely by AI may not be protectable, and changing the output yourself can make it more protectable. Then read your tool's terms:

  • Proppo: the models you generate belong to you, to the extent the law gives anyone rights in AI output. On paid plans (from Starter) you can keep them private and use them commercially, including in monetized Roblox games. Models made on Free are public on Explore under CC BY 4.0, so others may use them with credit. Details in our Terms.
  • Other tools: free tiers often make models public, CC BY or non-commercial. Meshy's Free plan, for example, is CC BY 4.0 (Meshy pricing). Check each tool before you build a game around its output.

Can you sell AI-made pets and models on Roblox?

Yes, as long as your tool's license allows commercial use. You can use AI-made pets in a game that sells game passes, developer products or eggs, and sell models on the Creator Store like any other model.

  • In your own game: eggs, passes and developer products are commercial use, so use models from a plan that allows it. CC BY models are fine commercially if you credit the author; non-commercial (NC) ones are not.
  • On the Creator Store: creators can sell models for US dollars ($2.99–49.99 as of October 2026, per Roblox's Creator Store docs), which list the seller requirements. Don't list a CC BY model made by someone else as your own, and check that your tool lets you resell raw output.
  • As avatar UGC: the Marketplace policy has no AI-specific rule as of October 2026; AI-made accessories follow the same rules and technical specs as any other UGC item.

If your eggs cost Robux, or currency bought with Robux, they count as paid random items: Roblox's paid random items policy asks you to show the odds before purchase. Our guide to egg rarity tables covers the maths and the policy.

What gets AI-made assets taken down on Roblox?

The same things that get hand-made assets taken down: copying brands, characters or other games, real people, and content that breaks Roblox's rules. AI makes it easy to do by accident.

  • Brand and character names in prompts. Roblox's IP post advises against prompting with brand names, existing protected characters or the names of real people. Asking for a famous character by name gets you an infringing model.
  • Copies of other games' pets. Feeding a screenshot of another simulator's pet into an image-to-3D tool, or using leaked models, is copying, not inspiration. It is also the fastest route to a copyright claim.
  • Inappropriate results. Generators sometimes add things you didn't ask for. Look at every model from all sides before you upload it.
  • Missing credit. Using a CC BY model without crediting the author breaks its license.

What should you check before shipping AI-made pets?

Five checks before a game with AI-made pets goes public:

  1. Your tool's license allows commercial use for every model in the game (or you credit the CC BY ones).
  2. No prompt or reference image used a brand, an existing character, a real person or another game's art.
  3. You looked at every model from all sides in Studio, at the size players see it.
  4. Each pet fits a sensible budget: see the triangle and texture limits for mobile.
  5. Paid eggs show their odds, and players who can't buy paid random items get another way to play.

Keep a short sheet of where each asset came from: the tool, the plan and the license. It answers most questions before anyone asks them.

Frequently asked questions

Can you get banned for using AI-generated models on Roblox?
Not for using AI as such: as of October 2026, Roblox has no rule against AI-made assets. You can get moderated for what a model shows, like any asset: copied brands or characters, another game's art, real people or content that breaks Roblox's rules. You are responsible for what you upload, whatever tool made it.
Do I have to tell players my pets were made with AI?
No disclosure rule for pre-made AI assets was found in Roblox's docs as of October 2026. Roblox's AI notice rules are about AI features players interact with inside an experience, such as an AI chat, which must tell players they are talking to AI.
Can I sell a Roblox game that uses AI-generated pets?
Yes, if the AI tool's license allows commercial use. On Proppo, paid plans include commercial use, including monetized Roblox games. If your eggs cost Robux, Roblox's paid random items policy asks you to show the odds before purchase.
Are AI-generated Roblox models protected by copyright?
Often not fully. In many countries purely AI-generated content is not protected by copyright, and Roblox's own IP post says output made solely by AI may not be protectable, while your own changes can help. A commercial license from a tool is not the same as an exclusive right.
